China’s renminbi remains stable versus the US dollar as uncertainty surrounds the Iran ceasefire
Yuan Remains Stable Amid Uncertainty Over Iran Ceasefire
On Monday, the Chinese yuan maintained its position against the US dollar, as investors closely monitored developments regarding a possible political solution to the conflict in Iran. Despite escalating tensions over the weekend that cast doubt on the ceasefire, the yuan showed little movement, with the onshore rate trading at 6.8191 per dollar by midday—virtually unchanged from the previous close.
The US dollar saw a modest uptick, driven by increased apprehension about whether discussions between the United States and Iran would proceed. However, experts believe that the yuan is likely to appreciate in the long term, thanks to China's robust economic performance and a cautious stance toward the dollar.
