Shanghai Electric participates in developing achievements in converting "gutter oil" into aviation fuel
According to Golden Ten Data on April 20, Shanghai Electric announced that the "Key Technologies and Pilot Verification of Sustainable Aviation Fuel" project, undertaken by Shanghai Boiler Works under Shanghai Electric Group, has recently achieved a world-first result. The project team used waste oils and fats as the sole raw material to produce 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), which is directly compatible with aviation engines and requires no blending with petroleum-based fuels. As planned, the project will launch its pilot operation in September this year, achieve stable pilot plant operation by the end of the year, and reach an annual output technical target of 5,000 tons of oil-based SAF.
