US Treasury Yields Bounce Back Following Robust Economic Data

On Wednesday, yields across US Treasury securities rebounded, with the 10-year note recovering from earlier declines. Strong economic indicators boosted expectations that interest rates may remain steady throughout the year.

Positive Jobs and Retail Data Temper Expectations for Fed Rate Cuts

March's ADP Employment Change reported 62,000 new jobs, surpassing the anticipated 40,000, though slightly below February's figure by 4,000. Retail Sales in February climbed 0.6% month-over-month, marking the highest increase in seven months and beating both the forecasted 0.5% rise and January's 0.1% decline.

US manufacturing expanded in March, according to the ISM survey, which also noted that input prices for factories reached their highest point in nearly four years.

Fed Officials Stress Commitment to Inflation Target

Leaders from the Federal Reserve reiterated their focus on achieving 2% inflation. Governor Michael Barr highlighted the need for continued efforts, while Richmond Fed's Thomas Barkin cautioned that rising inflation expectations could prompt action. St. Louis Fed's Alberto Musalem described current policy as "well positioned" at the lower end of the neutral range, and warned that supply disruptions pose significant inflation risks.

The US Dollar Index (DXY), which tracks the dollar against six major currencies, dropped 0.27% to 99.58, providing support for Gold prices.

Meanwhile, five-year inflation expectations in US financial markets decreased to 2.54% from 2.57% the previous day, based on the 5-year Breakeven Inflation Rate. The 10-year Breakeven rate edged down from 2.31% to 2.3%, indicating that markets anticipate lower medium-term inflation.

Market Attention Turns to Upcoming US Employment Data

Thursday will feature new Jobless Claims figures and speeches from Fed officials. On Friday, focus will shift to March's Nonfarm Payrolls report, coinciding with a US holiday.
