Data: 200 Bitcoins were transferred after being dormant for 11 years, and their BTC value has increased by 197,785% since purchase
According to Bitcoin.com, on June 3rd, an entity that was created in 2013 and has eight wallets transferred 200 bitcoins (currently worth $13.87 million) after being dormant for 11 years. If sold, the value of these bitcoins has increased by 197,785% since their purchase. These bitcoins were acquired between mid-February and late March in 2013 when the trading price per BTC ranged from $25 to $35. This means that at the highest BTC price at that time, the initial value of these funds was about $7,000.
These eight addresses are all traditional Pay-to-Pubkey-Hash (P2PKH) wallets and funds have been transferred into two different Pay-to-Script-Hash (P2SH) wallets. Each wallet sent slightly more than 25 Bitcoins valued approximately at $1.7 million based on current exchange rates. At the time of writing this article, these funds still remain in those mentioned wallets.
Data from new wallets show that these funds integrated previous dormant bitcoin transactions in March and January of 2024. Data from btcparser.com and information from one address suggest that it is very likely that same entity made eight different transactions on March 13th,2024 which are actually related to some transactions back in year of 2013.This is because those transactions also appeared in a wallet used for transfer or transit.
