The three major U.S. stock indexes closed collectively lower, the Dow fell 0.1%, the first time in the session to break 40,000 points, the Nasdaq fell 0.26%, the S&P 500 index fell 0.21%, the popular technology stocks mixed, Intel rose more than 2%, Amazon, Meta fell more than 1%.
