Solana targets $147 as it breaks key resistance and eyes further gains

Solana (SOL) is displaying renewed strength after surpassing a long-standing descending trendline, sparking optimism among traders and analysts for further upward momentum. The recent breakout has brought positive attention, fueled by increased network activity and significant derivatives positioning in the market.

Technical breakout and key support levels

On the daily chart, Solana overcame a multi-month downtrend, with analyst Einstien identifying $92 as a pivotal level in the current cycle. This area is now seen as central to confirming the strength of the ongoing rally and may act as a springboard toward higher price targets.

Einstien outlined a potential progression for SOL, envisioning a successful retest and hold at $92, which could open the path to $108, $128, and ultimately $147. These price points are being tracked by the market as technical resistance zones, not as guaranteed outcomes.

Solana’s recent price surge followed a lengthy period of low-volatility consolidation, where the asset traded between $74 and $78 during July and August. The transition from accumulation to an abrupt breakout past $90 led the price to approach $107, signaling a possible shift in market sentiment after several months of downward pressure.

Solana’s move above the former trendline, if sustained, could transform the asset’s structure, providing a foundation for further gains if buyers defend critical levels on a daily closing basis.

Testing and maintaining $92 as support will be crucial. A daily close above this threshold may pave the way toward the $108 region and, if momentum holds, toward higher resistance levels at $128 and $147. A close below $92, conversely, would undermine the breakout scenario and leave the recovery vulnerable.

Moving averages, resistance, and volatility

Technical indicators from TradingView highlight that SOL is currently trading above several key exponential moving averages (EMAs). The 20 EMA is situated at $99.57, the 50 EMA at $91.63, the 100 EMA at $86.92, and the 200 EMA at $91. These averages provide multiple points of potential support, especially around the crucial $91–$92 range.

The proximity of the 50 and 200 EMAs to the $92 zone strengthens the significance of this support. Meanwhile, Bollinger Bands indicate rising volatility after the late August surge, with the upper band at $107.99 acting as a key resistance level and the 20 EMA functioning as dynamic support.

Indicator Value Significance
20 EMA $99.57 Dynamic support
50 EMA $91.63 Key support (near $92 test)
100 EMA $86.92 Secondary support
200 EMA $91 Major support (near $92 test)
BB Upper Band $107.99 Resistance zone

Derivatives and network activity

Open interest in Solana-linked derivatives has increased modestly, rising 1.65% to $6.05 billion, as reported by data provider Coinglass. At the same time, 24-hour trading volume has decreased sharply by 55.31% to $4.35 billion. This mismatch suggests that while fewer trades are being made, leveraged positions remain substantial, potentially adding to future volatility, especially as Solana approaches key levels of support or resistance.

Derivatives positioning shows traders are taking on more leverage even as overall trading has slowed, suggesting the market could see sharper price swings near crucial technical markers.

Investors are watching whether a rise in open interest is accompanied by increased spot demand, as this would provide further confidence in the sustainability of bullish moves.

Beyond price factors, the Solana network has experienced a notable surge in activity. According to Solana Floor, daily token launches surpassed 260,000 for three consecutive days, reflecting strong ongoing participation in the ecosystem.

Although high token launch numbers do not automatically translate to higher SOL prices, they indicate persistent community engagement and innovation within Solana, a blockchain platform known for its speed and scalability.

Mini dictionary: Solana is a high-performance blockchain protocol designed to support fast, low-cost transactions, and decentralized applications, distinguished by its proof-of-history (PoH) consensus method that enables high throughput and efficient block times.

Outlook and upcoming tests

Market observers are closely monitoring Solana’s response to the $92 level. Retaining this support would validate recent bullish momentum and keep technical targets of $108, $128, and $147 in play. A breakdown below this threshold could undermine current optimism and trigger renewed caution among traders.
