The Italian Minister of Economy and Finance stated that the country's fiscal deficit in 2026 will be kept below the 3% threshold. As one of the core requirements of the EU's Stability and Growth Pact, the 3% fiscal deficit red line is a fiscal constraint generally adhered to by eurozone member states. By clearly setting this target, Italy is also sending a signal to the market that it will gradually tighten its fiscal balance and promote a return to sound fiscal conditions.
