Micron Technology (MU.US) expects capital expenditures of approximately $25 billion in the first half of fiscal year 2027, with even higher spending in the second half. Most of the additional spending will be allocated to the construction of new wafer fabs (building expenditures) rather than simply equipment purchases. Micron Technology CFO Mark Murphy explained that this is entirely because long-term orders provide sufficient demand visibility, and new greenfield factories require a very long lead time.
