CLARITY Vote Wasn’t the End: 5 Altcoins to Watch Before the Next Crypto Catalyst

  • Coinbase Clearing has received CFTC approval to operate as a regulated derivatives clearing organization.
  • The CLARITY Act’s Senate setback did not settle the broader debate over U.S. cryptocurrency regulation.
  • AVAX, BCH, ADA, LINK, and HBAR each have different blockchain roles and remain relevant to the evolving market infrastructure.

The U.S. crypto market is getting another significant regulatory development as the Senate has failed to pass the CLARITY Act. The setback left more questions unanswered regarding digital-asset rules, and U.S. regulatory activity remained. Now the focus has turned towards the derivatives market as Coinbase is granted regulatory permission to host its own regulated clearinghouse by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

During the Senate procedural vote, the CLARITY Act did not muster the necessary votes. The result was still no rejection of the legislation, but meant that it now awaits further action by Congress. All the while, the regulators under authority have been making decisions which impact market infrastructure and cryptocurrency trading.

Coinbase Gains CFTC Approval for Derivatives Clearing

Coinbase Clearing will be a derivatives clearing organization for certain regulated products under the CFTC approval. The structure provides that Coinbase-affiliated businesses are separated in the derivatives process from the exchange business, the brokerage business, and the clearing business.

Some futures contracts are allowed to be listed on Coinbase Derivatives, which is designated as the contract market. Coinbase Financial Markets is the futures commission merchant (FCM) that processes orders from customers and receives customer funds. Coinbase Clearing handles the central clearing from counterparty to counterparty. It comes as U.S. cryptocurrency legislation remains uncertain. Regulatory agencies are key sources of changes to market infrastructure while the CLARITY Act is still undecided.

Avalanche Remains on the Altcoin Watchlist

In the U.S. digital-asset market, Avalanche is one of the reputable smart-contract networks that is being watched. AVAX is linked to a network of blockchain-based applications and activities. Better development of regulated trading infrastructure could help to maintain existing layer-1 assets in the larger markets conversation. Regulatory changes alone are not the factors that will be decisive to the performance of AVAX in the future.

Bitcoin Cash Draws Attention as Derivatives Infrastructure Expands

Unlike smart-contract networks, bitcoin cash offers another profile as it is centered on P2P transaction. BCH has also been in the game of trading cryptocurrencies for a long time. Established cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Cash could be following suit, as traditional big players in the market monitor overall U.S. trading access.

Cardano Faces a New Market Infrastructure Test

Another blockchain network that has long been established and is followed by crypto traders and investors is Cardano. Its ecosystem has been steadily evolving and progressing with decentralized applications, governance, and network improvements. Additionally, for ADA, there could be a wider range of changes to the regulated market infrastructure monitored in addition to network activity, liquidity and general cryptocurrency market conditions.

Chainlink Stays Relevant Across Blockchain Data Markets

Unlike the other ones, Chainlink’s technology allows for external data to be fed into blockchain applications. It has been applied to decentralized finance, smart-contract applications, and more. LINK is therefore a valuable asset that has a market story that goes beyond just trading, and is linked to the general development of the financial infrastructure of blockchain.

Hedera Adds Another Established Network to the Watchlist

Hedera is another network being followed as institutional and enterprise-related blockchain applications continue developing. HBAR has a distinct market profile compared with payment-focused cryptocurrencies and traditional smart-contract platforms.

Changes in U.S. trading infrastructure could therefore provide another market factor for participants tracking HBAR alongside liquidity and broader digital-asset trends.

What the Latest Regulatory Moves Mean for Altcoins

The failed CLARITY vote has left U.S. crypto legislation unresolved, but regulatory activity has continued through existing agencies. Coinbase’s CFTC approval adds another development to the derivatives landscape without resolving the wider legislative debate.

For AVAX, BCH, ADA, LINK, and HBAR, the next major catalysts are likely to remain connected to regulatory decisions, market liquidity, network developments, and broader cryptocurrency conditions. Those factors will determine how much attention each asset receives as the U.S. digital-asset framework continues to evolve.
