⑴ In August 2026, the total outstanding loans in Brazil's financial sector grew by 0.5% month-on-month to 7.4 trillion reais, compared to 0.3% growth in July. ⑵ Corporate lending edged down by 0.1% month-on-month to 2.7 trillion reais, while household lending increased by 0.8% to 4.7 trillion reais. ⑶ Year-on-year, total credit grew by 9.2%, slightly below July’s 9.3%. The year-on-year growth rate of household lending fell from 10.6% to 10.5%, still outpacing corporate credit, which slowed from 7.3% to 7.1%. ⑷ Meanwhile, total free funds credit amounted to 4.1 trillion reais, up 0.2% month-on-month and 6.5% year-on-year. Household credit’s 0.8% month-on-month rise offset a 0.6% month-on-month decline in corporate lending, while corporate loans were still up 0.5% year-on-year.
