08:04 AM EDT, 09/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Abeona Therapeutics (ABEO) said Wednesday that the University of Florida Health in Gainesville has become the eighth Qualified Treatment Center for administering ZEVASKYN, its gene-modified cellular sheet therapy for wounds in adult and pediatric patients with recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa. UF Health is the sole ZEVASKYN treatment center in the Southeastern US, according to the company. The center has begun identifying and onboarding eligible patients, it said. ZEVASKYN is an autologous cell sheet-based gene therapy indicated for the treatment of wounds in adult and pediatric RDEB patients and is designed to introduce a functional COL7A1 gene into patients' own skin cells, it added.
