The official Tesla social media account used the phrase “Go for launch,” which echoes SpaceX’s rocket launches, and Tesla has used live events in the past to boost enthusiasm among customers and investors. The launch of the second-generation Roadster has been postponed multiple times. In the company’s recent performance presentation materials, Tesla stated that the Roadster is still in the “design development” stage. During Tesla’s first-quarter earnings call this April, Musk said regarding the Roadster: “I think it could be one of the most amazing demonstrations ever.”
