Dollar Edges Higher, Treasury Yields Decline But Stay at Elevated Levels -- Market Talk

1006 GMT - The dollar rises slightly ahead of August U.S. consumer-price inflation data at 1230 GMT, a key input ahead of the Federal Reserve's monetary policy decision next week, while Treasury yields edge lower but stay elevated near multiyear highs. Markets currently price in a 68% probability of a 25-basis-point rate hike, according to LSEG. "Rising energy costs amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East continue to fuel inflation concerns, while growing borrowing needs are also pushing investors to demand greater compensation for holding longer-dated government debt," BankPro CEO Paolo Broccardo says in a note. The DXY dollar index rises 0.1% to 99.138. Ten-year Tresaury yields fall 0.6 basis points to 4.938%, according to Tradeweb. (emese.bartha@wsj.com)
